About the procedure
If a man reconsiders his decision after undergoing a vasectomy and wishes to regain fertility, a vasectomy reversal is performed. The most accurate and effective technique for this procedure is microsurgical reversal, which, thanks to a high degree of precision, allows for the most perfect restoration of the vas deferens. During the operation, the surgeon first prepares the damaged ends of the interrupted vas deferens and then performs a connecting suture — usually an end-to-end anastomosis of both stumps (vasovasostomy), or a connection of the vas deferens to the epididymis (vasoepididymostomy) using very fine surgical thread. An essential condition for a successful outcome is sufficient proximity and preserved vitality of both ends of the vas deferens, which allows the anastomosis to be performed without excessive tension in the tissue.
No facility can guarantee a 100% success rate or complete restoration of patency. The result depends on several factors — primarily the distance between the sealed ends of the vas deferens, their tissue nutrition, and, last but not least, the experience and technical precision of the surgeon.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and lasts approximately 2 hours. This is a day surgery procedure — the patient usually goes home on the same day. After the procedure, we recommend 2 to 3 days of physical rest, 14 days of sexual abstinence, and avoiding sports activities for the same duration.
If you are planning to undergo this procedure, please first book a consultation with a doctor prior to surgery under general anesthesia.
