About the procedure
A hydrocele, or fluid-filled swelling, is a testicular condition in which the contents of the scrotum enlarge due to fluid accumulation. It is an unsightly and troublesome condition in which the testicle is larger and the scrotal skin may be tense. A hydrocele may also interfere with walking. If the scrotum is large, it may create an unsightly bulge in trousers, leading to a feeling of embarrassment, and it may also adversely affect a man’s sex life. The solution is hydrocele surgery. Diagnosis is made by physical examination (palpation), scrotal ultrasound, and, if necessary, tumour marker testing. A hydrocele must be correctly diagnosed and distinguished from a tumour, inflammation of the testicle, or an inguinal hernia / classic hernia /.
